Rissman named Head of Biological Sciences at NC State
Dr. Emilie Rissman has been named the first permanent head of NC State’s Department of Biological Sciences. She joined the Department November 1, 2014.
Rissman comes to NC State from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was a professor of biochemistry and molecular genetics. Rissman received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in biological psychology from Cornell University.
As head, Rissman oversees academic, administrative and budgetary matters for a department with 2,100 students and 160 faculty, staff and postdoctoral researchers.
