Toxicology students receive awards at the National Society of Toxicology Meeting

Toxicology PhD student, Kelly Shipkowski, won 1st place for best graduate student poster presentation for the Nanotoxicology Specialty Section at the 34th Society of Toxicology meeting held in San Diego California.  The title of her abstract was Allergen-Inducible Th2 Cytokines Inhibit Inflammasome Activation by Carbon Nanotubes via Suppression of Caspase-1 in Macrophages In vitro and in the Lungs of Mice In Vivo.  Kelly is mentored by Dr. Jamie Bonner.

Toxicology PhD student, Charisse Holmes, won an honorable mention for her poster presented in the Molecular Biology Specialty Section at the 34th Society of Toxicology meeting held in San Diego California.  The title of her poster was Insect Growth-Regulating Insecticides Differentially Activate the PPAR Signaling Network.  Charisse is mentored by Dr. Gerald LeBlanc.
