Student Awards Update

Sean Cone (a 5th year PhD candidate in Dr. Gaddameedhi’s lab) attended the EMGS conference in Palm Springs in September. His accomplishments include:
Best overall DNA Repair SECI (Student and Early Career Investigator) Award – this award is given to the best poster in the DNA repair category by a student or new investigator (and includes a monetary award).
EMGS SECI Travel Award – This $500 award is given to SECIs that are also EMGS members that also submitted a presentation abstract for the conference. Recipients are selected on merit.
Selected as an oral presenter for DNA Repair SIG Meeting – of all posters submitted to EMGS, 4 were selected to give a 10 minute oral presentation of their research followed by a Q&A session.

Earl Ford (a 3rd year student in Dr. Baynes’ lab) presented his research at the annual CVM Litwack Research Day. Of 110 posters presented, Earl’s was 1 of 2 awarded best poster.
