NCSU Toxicology
Exploring how human health, from the individual to population level, is impacted by environmental stressors and to implement this knowledge to prevent adverse impacts on health and disease.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide future generations of toxicologists and environmental health science (EHS) researchers with the didactic, scientific, and professional skills necessary to conduct high-impact research, communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences, and work within multidisciplinary teams to understand how human health is impacted by environmental factors. Our graduates pursue successful careers in academia, industry, and government.
The Toxicology Program at NC State draws on a interdisciplinary group of faculty members from the Departments of Biological Sciences, Molecular Biomedical Sciences, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Population Health and Pathobiology, Applied Ecology, and Entomology to provide outstanding research and training opportunities for MS and PhD students.
Our Program is home to one of the longest-running NIEHS T32 Training Grants in the nation, supporting the training of over 200 scientists. Our Program forms the bedrock for a rich environment of toxicology and EHS research at NC State, including three current NIH Center grants. This combination of Centers is unique among institutions in the US, and helps cement NC State’s position as a national leader in the field.
Students in our Program have access to an exceptional set of resources including core facilities, cutting-edge instrumentation, seminars, symposia, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
Over 200 supported students and postdoctoral fellows
Our NIEHS training grant has been continually funding students for 41 years.
