Toxicology Seminar with Dr. Emma Rosi

Talk Title: “Pharmaceuticals and personal care products as agents of ecological change”
Bio: Dr. Rosi’s research focuses on how human activities affect aquatic life and water quality in diverse ecosystems around the world. Her work examines aquatic ecosystem health with a focus on ecosystem function and food webs. She has conducted ground-breaking research on how contaminants of emerging concern such as pharmaceuticals affect aquatic ecosystems. She also investigates nutrient cycling in ecosystems ranging from the forests of the northeast US to urban ecosystems in Baltimore to the influence of large wildlife on rivers of the Maasai Mara Reserve in Kenya. Her research seeks to inform sound stewardship of freshwater resources, and she often speaks to the public and policymakers.
